Your Noisy Place is led by Julia Brown, a fun, multi-disciplined musician and group facilitator with 25 years experience in Australia and overseas. Julia has worked at Australia's premier performing arts destination, the Sydney Opera House, and sung with residents at the Salvos, Opal, Warrigal and RFBI homes. She also has lived experience with family members in aged care homes, including dementia care, and thrives from the joy and connection singing brings others.

Australians live longer if they have friends, even if there are social connections with family. Music is a fun, feel-good way to connect with others. What's special about this program isn't just the sessions, it's the homework and concerts - providing ongoing opportunity to connect and have fun outside our one hour together. Let's make some noise!

No! The purpose of the sessions is to have fun and connect with others. All levels of singers are welcome and encouraged.
We try to make these sessions as inclusive as possible. Music comes in all forms, so if there is a participant who would like to join but has reservations, we can incorporate humming, simple percussion instruments or other means to cater to everyone.
The music is mainly hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, in the English language that will make participants feel good. The songs have been arranged in a simple two part harmony especially for aged care residents. If your residents' primary language is other than English and you are interested in a program, contact us so we can develop something tailored to your needs in future seasons.
The sessions are facilitated by experienced musicians who care about community. All facilitators have a police check and working with vulnerable people check where applicable.
In order for the sessions to run as smoothly as possible we require the space at your location to be set up prior to the session. Those who would like to sing the melody section should sit together and those who would like to sing the harmony section should sit together. Any Health and Safety procedures required to be complied with must be provided in advance. Staff to support residents during the session must be provided by the customer (eg. for bathroom trips).
We are open to all sorts of collaborations. Contact us to get started.
Absolutely! In fact, those with dementia will benefit from this program.
